About the program

This scholarship is designed for teens in the Tampa Bay community who are passionate about dance and may face financial barriers. Students will receive access to our regular scheduled classes, mentorship and a supportive artistic environment.

Who can apply:

  • Teens ages 12 years - 17 years

  • Passion for dance (no experience required)

  • Commitment to attend classes consistently

Please complete the application for the Iroko Dance Scholarship Program. This program is grant funded by the Iroko nonprofit organization. Demographic data is for documentation purposes and will not be shared. The application below is due by 4/15/2026.

Do I need prior experience?

No experience is required! We welcome dancers at every level from beginners to advanced performers.

When and where does training takes place?

1 classe per week — 1 mandatory Salsa class on Saturdays at 1pm

*You must be able to commit to saturdays in order to keep the scholarship*

What should I expect during the group orientation?

You’ll meet some of our team and instructors, share more about yourself and your interest in dance, and participate in a class environment so we can get to know your learning style, passion, and goals.

This is a supportive, welcoming experience — not an audition.

What will I gain from this program?

Scholarship recipients will train with world-class instructors who specialize in:

✨ Afro-Cuban movement

✨ Bachata

✨ Salsa

You’ll build strong technical foundations, musicality, confidence, teamwork skills, and performance presence — all within a supportive, culturally-rich dance environment.

A core goal of the program is training students to compete. Selected dancers will have the opportunity to compete in Orlando, with competition expenses fully covered through the scholarship.

This program is about growth, leadership, and helping young dancers realize their full potential both on and off the dance floor.

Is there a deadline to apply?

Yes. All application materials must be submitted by the posted deadline on our application page.

What does the scholarship include?

Scholarship recipients will receive:

• Access to 1 weekly dance classes

• Training with elite instructors

• Mentorship and guidance

• Inclusion in a supportive artistic community

Can parents attend the orientation?

Yes — parents or guardians are welcome to accompany the student. Transportation not included*

How long does this program take?

We are starting off with our beginner salsa level 1 course, has a 2 month duration. After that, the teen will move up to level 2 and commitment will be monitored to qualify for private classes and detailed preparation.
